SEGA and Creative Assembly have announced a full-year celebration for the 25th anniversary of the Total War franchise, culminating in a December 2025 showcase that will unveil the next evolution of the long-running strategy series.
Beginning this August, the campaign will reflect on 25 years of real-time strategy excellence, from the historical depth of SHOGUN and ROME to the fantastical world of WARHAMMER. The anniversary will feature developer retrospectives, livestreams, tournaments, and massive discounts across the Total War catalog.
The 25th anniversary celebration will journey through the Total War history, bringing fans closer to the studio’s roots with behind-the-scenes content and community highlights. According to Creative Assembly, the December showcase will include new game announcements, future content plans for Total War: WARHAMMER III, and commentary from key development leads.
Patch 6.2 for WARHAMMER III is expected to launch soon, with the Tides of Torment DLC unveiling its final playable faction in July.
Roger Collum, VP of Total War, shared his excitement and gratitude in the official anniversary letter:
“We’re honoured and humbled to be one of the few video games that get the chance to celebrate such a huge milestone… 2025 marks an exciting new era for the franchise as we reveal what’s next for Total War, and we can’t wait to celebrate throughout the year with everyone.”

To mark the occasion, a historical franchise sale is live on Steam with up to 75% off titles, including:
- Total War: THREE KINGDOMS
- Total War: ROME II
- Total War: PHARAOH
Whether you’re a veteran general or a curious newcomer, 2025 is the perfect time to rediscover Total War. With legacy content, new titles on the horizon, and a thriving global community, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down.
