A fresh take on a classic romance visual novel is here. The ToHeart Remake demo is officially available on Steam starting June 19, 2025, giving fans a first look at the updated visuals and systems of this beloved title before its full launch.
Originally released in 1997 by Aquaplus, ToHeart is a Japanese visual novel that follows high school student Hiroyuki Fujita as he reconnects with childhood friends and meets new faces in his everyday life.
The game quickly became a cult classic, later inspiring a 1999 anime adaptation, along with sequels, merchandise, and various other media that helped it maintain a steady presence in pop culture.
In the upcoming ToHeart Remake, the developer has confirmed that the opening and key story events will be presented in cinematic 3D, enhancing the narrative’s immersion. Players can also choose between adventure-style or novel-style formats, and toggle between new and original voiceovers.

Notably, the protagonist will now be fully voiced, and a guide function will help players navigate toward specific heroine routes. However, the remake will not include new character routes or minigames from previous versions.
